Dent, Golob and Rinehart named FATE fellows
Each year, the UC Irvine Office of the Vice Provost of Teaching and Learning and the Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation (DTEI) single out faculty who have created learning environments that foster the growth of all students, continued to develop their pedagogy by participating in professional development opportunities and been recognized by their peers as model educators.
Known as UCI Faculty Academy for Teaching Excellence (FATE) fellows, these scholars regularly meet to discuss all aspects of the teaching experience, from pedagogical techniques, to course policies, to departmental and university-wide issues.
These meetings will provide a forum for rapid dissemination of successful approaches to challenges faced by instructors and students, according to the DTEI, which recently announced the 2024-25 cohort of FATE fellows, which includes these three School of Social Ecology faculty members:
- Amy Dent, associate professor of teaching psychological science.
- Brandon Golob, associate professor of teaching criminology, law & society and associate dean of the Campuswide Honors Collegium.
- Jenny Rinehart, associate professor of teaching psychological science.
“Acceptance into FATE is a lifetime honor bestowed on faculty who have demonstrated the aptitude to develop learning environments that foster student growth,” states the announcement from Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Hal Stern and Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning and Dean of Undergraduate Education Michael Dennin.
