UCI DTEI names Zinger 2024 Professor of the Year
Although Joanne Zinger has been named a Professor of the Year multiple times, the UC Irvine associate professor of teaching of psychological science is touched by the most-recent accolade: the 2024 Dr. De Gallow Professor of the Year Award from the UCI Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation.
“Winning the Professor of the Year award is an incredible honor that validates my commitment to fostering student growth and academic excellence,” Zinger informs. “It reflects the supportive environment at UC Irvine and the dedication of my students and colleagues.”
Named after the longtime UCI administrator and open to all faculty senate members, the award recognizes an instructor who excels in teaching through the use of particular methods that positively impact diverse student populations.
“This recognition motivates me to continue striving for excellence,” Zinger says, “and to inspire future generations of learners."
She will be recognized at the 2024 Celebration of Teaching reception that culminates UCI Teach Day on Sept. 19.
Receiving the award does pose one problem for Zinger: It will be competing for space on a mantle filled with these other honors:
