California State Senator Josh Newman, School of Social Ecology senior fellow, will lead the discussion.
Speaking from his experience as a legislator, Newman will share tips around how to best share your research topics and findings with elected officials, how your research can inform CA state assembly and senate bills and will answer any questions you may have.
This event is the first in a series of three events set to take place this year focused on communicating research with policymakers. Additional events will include a panel discussion with UCI’s government affairs team and a discussion with faculty across UCI who have successfully engaged with legislators and who have had their research inform policy creation in California and beyond.
This event is only open to UC Irvine faculty and researchers.
