POSITION DESCRIPTION

Specialist in Digital Mental Health

Applicants are invited to apply for specialist positions at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), Department of Psychological Science. The positions are full-time for those with a strong interest in digital mental health, and positions will be available at multiple specialist levels dependent on the applicant's background, level of experience, and qualifications. Specialists will work in the TEchnology and Mental Health (TEAM) Lab, directed by Dr. Stephen Schueller, which explores how technology, particularly smartphone apps, can be used in the treatment and management of mental health and can improve the delivery of mental health services. 

Specialists may work on one or more of the following projects: 

One Mind PsyberGuide, a non-profit project providing advice and guidelines to people interested in using technology to help support and manage their mental health. Primary project outputs are app reviews on our app guide at https://onemindpsyberguide.org/. Other activities focus on the dissemination and evaluation of digital mental health tools

A California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) funded formative evaluation for the Help@Hand Project. This is a multi-county collaborative and activities project that was developed to improve mental health care access and delivery throughout California using mobile mental health technologies. Job responsibilities include managing projects and tracking workflows and deliverables, identifying and reviewing apps and digital tools, managing databases and coordinating data from external sources, assisting in the development of research protocols and materials, and preparing reports. Depending on the applicant's experience and skills, responsibilities may also include data analysis, preparing scientific outputs, conducting mixed-methods data collection in clinical and/or community-based settings, and supervising team members including research staff and research assistants.

This is an ideal position for applicants with a strong interest in digital mental health, with opportunities in implementation science, community-engaged work, and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. 

Applicants with B.A. M.A., M.S., PhD in public health, psychology, social work or related fields are invited, as there are positions at various levels available. 

Required skills: 
● Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
● Strong communication skills; experience communicating with diverse audiences, verbally and in writing 
● Interpersonal skills; experience building relationships and partnerships, and communicating sensitively with a wide range of stakeholder groups
● Database management and experience with Google Suite applications (e.g. Google Sheets)
Preferred skills: 
● Supervising multidisciplinary teams
● Writing and/or leading scientific papers
● Quantitative and qualitative data analysis 
● Conducting research studies and developing protocols 
● Using Wordpress 

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

B.A. M.A., M.S., or PhD in public health, psychology, social work or related fields
