A recent study conducted by Roxane Cohen Silver, Professor of Psychology and Social Behavior, along with former students Mark Seery and Alison Holman, was featured in a New York Times article entitled On Road to Recovery, Past Adversity Provides a Map.
The article reports on their study that appeared in the December issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology that discusses how adverse life experiences may foster subsequent resilience, with resulting advantages for mental health and well-being.
