Psychopaths Get Time Off for Bad Brains

Jennifer Skeem, Professor of Psychology and Social Behavior, is quoted in a recent Science News article on the use of biological evidence in deciding the sentencing of criminals diagnosed with psychopathic personality. The article suggests judges may issue a slightly shorter sentence if presented with a biological explanation for the criminal’s psychopathic personality. Skeem says “It is premature to apply neuroscience on psychopathy to decisions about criminal responsibility and sentencing."
