Professor Quoted in New York Times

April 2011

Henry Pontell , Professor of Criminology, Law and Society and Sociology, was quoted in a front-page article in the New York Times on April 14th regarding the lack of major prosecutions in the financial crisis. His book on the S&L crisis was cited in comparing the two debacles.

CLS Ph.D. alum Bill Black was quoted in the same piece and both CLS and the School of Social Ecology were mentioned in it as well.  The article cited statistics from his research on prosecutions during the Savings and Loan Crisis and compared them to the current financial meltdown.  On April 18th Professor Pontell gave the Hilliard Lecture at the University of Nevada, Reno.  Last month he delivered invited lectures on corporate crime, financial fraud, and comparative criminology in the Dept. of Sociology and Centre for Criminology at the University of Hong Kong and in the School of Law at Macau University of Science and Technology.
