Ray Novaco, Professor of Psychology and Social Behavior, has conducted research on domestic violence, specifically looking at how women and children are served by emergency shelters and transitional living programs. "People have become more inclined to seek help for domestic violence – both in calling police and in contacting shelters – because they now better recognize the problem, feel less stigmatized by it and view our social systems as now being responsive," he said.
