A Los Angeles Times article about crime in the U.S., reports that the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program statistics show that murder, rape, robbery and assault dropped 4% in 2011. A 2004 study by Ronald Weitzer and Charis Kubrin, Professor of Criminology, Law and Society, was mentioned in this article. Their study showed that people who watched the news were more afraid of crime than those who didn't.
