Students selected for Labor Summer internships

eight interns

Third cohort will take part in full-time paid posts

Eight UC Irvine, Chapman University and McGill University students have been selected as this year’s Labor Summer interns. They make up the third cohort of interns from UC Irvine since the UCI Labor Center opened in 2023.

The students will participate in the seven-week, full-time, paid internships with labor organizations throughout Orange County beginning later this month. The participants, their university and major, include:

  • Lauriana Adriano, UCI, sociology
  • Daniela Fernandez, UCI, political science
  • Vanesa Cruz Granados, UCI, psychology and Chicano Latino studies
  • Valerie Grimaldo, UCI, political science
  • Toby Izenberg, McGill, sociology and English literature
  • Coco Ridge, Chapman, sociology
  • Daniela Ramos Rodriguez, UCI, public health sciences
  • Annika Vinekar, UCI, international studies

Many past interns have landed jobs after their internships. Michelle Truong, for example, was a Labor Summer intern in 2023 at Orange County Employees Association. She now is a full-time organizing specialist for OCEA and will be the intern supervisor for the OCEA student interns this summer.
