Join us for a free screening of "What these Walls won't Hold," followed by a live discussion with Director Adamu Chan moderated by UCI criminology, law & society Associate Professor Mercy Romero.
Transcending the grim realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chan's powerful documentary paints a poignant portrait of resilience and hope blossoming within the confines of San Quentin State Prison. The filmmaker, formerly incarcerated himself, offers a unique insider's view delving into his own journey towards freedom, while simultaneously amplifying the voices of his community and their loved ones on both sides of the prison walls.
This event is sponsored by the UC Irvine Law Criminal Justice Clinic; Center in Law, Society, and Culture; Department of Criminology, Law and Society; and Poetic Justice Initiative.
Pizza will be served.
