Roots and the co-sponsoring UC Irvine Office of Student Life & Leadership and the schools of Humanities, Social Ecology and Social Sciences present a conversation with Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger, an Orthodox Israeli settler, and Khaled Abu Awwad, a Palestinian activist, who will share their powerful, deeply personal and interconnected stories.
They are the leaders of Roots, which brings together a unique network of local Palestinians and Israelis living on the West Bank who have committed themselves to seeing one another as partners in the urgent work of editing the conflict and building a more just and connected community.
Heart firsthand accounts of their struggles and transformations, and learn about their shared vision for mutual national recognition, reconciliation and lasting change.
Light refreshments will be served following the event.
