OC Affordable Housing Impact Study

Public Release Presentation

With increasing homelessness and the inability of affordable housing to keep up with demand, Orange County municipalities are struggling to implement housing solutions that protect vulnerable populations while insuring the safety and economic health of surrounding communities. Fears of declining home values and increasing crime rates undergird community resistance to affordable housing solutions. Are these fears justified? Can we balance the needs of seemingly disparate populations?

Livable Cities Lab researchers have collected and analyzed years of data to help us separate fact from fiction and pave an informed path to housing solutions. Join us for the public release of this groundbreaking study exploring the real effect on home values and rates of crime before and after the placement of affordable housing in communities in Orange County.
