Mai Nguyen, director of the Design Lab and professor of Urban Studies and Planning at UC San Diego, discusses how planners can use humanity-centered design to create systems change. The Design Lab at UCSD is an inter- and trans-disciplinary unit that addresses the most pressing and complex societal problems using a humanity-centered design approach. Hear about the Lab's unique approach to planning and design and how the vision for a better future led to the San Diego and Tijuana region becoming the 2024 World Design Capital, a global designation that will showcase the unique brand of humanity-centered design.
