DETAILS

The UCI Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation and the Climate and Urban Sustainability Program (CUSP) present a luncheon featuring award-winning scholar Tobias Ide, a senior lecturer in politics and international relations at Murdoch University Perth and director of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association.

Providing the first comprehensive analysis of the interplay between natural disasters and armed conflict, Ide's book "Catastrophes, Confrontations, and Constraints" (2023, The MIT Press) explores the extent to which disasters facilitate the escalation or abatement of armed conflicts—as well as the ways and contexts in which combatants exploit these catastrophes.

RSVP by April 4 so organizers can get a head count for lunch. If you have any questions about the event, contact Maureen Purcell at mjpurcel@uci.edu.
