Muralist puts love on the wall at UC Irvine

Adolescents’ view of family social standing correlates with mental health, life outcomes
“We found that by late adolescence, young people’s beliefs about their family’s social standing in relation to others reliably mark differences in their mental health and readiness for future education and work,” says Candice Odgers, UCI professor of psychological science and the study’s senior author. “By age 18, how youths viewed their family’s status was robustly linked with multiple indicators of well-being, independent of objective social position.” Photo by Patricia DeVoe
