917 new Social Ecology students are preparing to start in the fall

The lucky 917 new students who were accepted to UCI and are about to pursue their undergraduate degrees from the School of Social Ecology have been online this summer, learning about the school through remote orientations.

Of the newly-admitted undergrads, 414 are freshmen and 503 are transfer students. Most — 428 — are majoring in criminology, law and society; 385 are psychological science majors, 63 are urban studies majors; and 40 are social ecology majors.

The school’s academic counselors report that the new students are ready to begin their UCI experience, even though it must be remotely in the fall because of COVID-19.

Academic counselors Lisardy Velasco and Jamie Shea said students are being informed about using the university’s general catalogue, schedule of classes, WebReg and other resources and are looking forward to the fall quarter. She and the other academic counselors recorded a presentation for students to watch before their live orientation sessions on Zoom.
