Manuel Gomez, '78 alumnus and former Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs for UC Irvine, has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2011 UCI Medal, the university's most prestigious award. The program bestows lifelong recognition on those who have made strong contributions to the university's mission of teaching, research and public service. This year's recipients will be honored in October during the school's "Celebration of Stars" event. This event is hosted by the UC Irvine Foundation.
