UC Irvine’s second annual Happiness Week, a campus-wide celebration dedicated to enhancing well-being and resilience during the inevitable stress of the last week of the winter quarter, continues its weeklong series of engaging activities and initiatives designed to elevate your spirits, reduce stress and foster a sense of community.

Led by the Division of Undergraduate Education and joined by almost 400 social ecology students taking Professor Sarah Pressman's Positive Psychology class (as well as about a dozen campus units), Happiness Week, which runs daily through Friday evening, offers a diverse range of events to help you thrive academically and personally.

Here is what is scheduled today:

TBD: Study Supplies: Students can visit the Sorority & Fraternity Life table along Ring Road to grab study supplies like blue books, scantrons, pens/pencils, quotes, and giveaways like snacks.

9am-4pm: Stress Relief through Coloring and Games: Coloring books and games are set up in the study lounge at Undergraduate/Undeclared Advising's UEA 106 all week, so students can come by, play and de-stress.

10am-4pm: The Write to Happiness: Join the Center for Excellence in Writing and Communication team for some light refreshments and writing activities in the 193 Science Library's conference room! Choose between “Positive Affirmations Mad Libs” where you fill in the blanks of pre-written prompts with adjectives, nouns, verbs, adverbs that encourage confidence, or “Sticking Together” where you can give confidence to others by writing down a compliment or describing something/someone that makes you happy, then add your contribution to the kindness chain.

11am-2pm: Treats at DCP: Students who visit the Division of Career Pathways enjoy individually wrapped snacks such as candy bars or bags of chips.

2-4pm: Spin for Resilience. The Associated Student UCI (ASUCI) invite you to join them on the Student Center Terrace, where everyone will create a large and colorful “mood wheel” with different emotions listed on it. Students will take turns spinning the wheel, depending on what mood it lands on, then student would have to share a coping strategy for when dealing with that emotion. This highlights the importance of emotional management for mental resilience.

With a focus on positive psychology and well-being, Happiness Week is your opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with others in a fun and meaningful way. Join us and discover the joy of happiness at UCI. Follow the "Full Schedule" link to learn about all the events happening through Friday, March 14.
