UC Irvine’s second annual Happiness Week, a campus-wide celebration dedicated to enhancing well-being and resilience during the inevitable stress of the last week of the winter quarter, concludes its weeklong series of engaging activities and initiatives designed to elevate your spirits, reduce stress and foster a sense of community.
Led by the Division of Undergraduate Education and joined by almost 400 social ecology students taking Professor Sarah Pressman's Positive Psychology class (as well as about a dozen campus units), Happiness Week has been offering a diverse range of events to help you thrive academically and personally.
Here is what is scheduled today:
9am-4pm: Stress Relief through Coloring and Games: Coloring books and games are set up in the study lounge at Undergraduate/Undeclared Advising's UEA 106 all week, so students can come by, play and de-stress.
11am-12:30pm: International Coffee Hour: The International Student Center presents this drop-in social event that every Friday in front of the Science Library from 11am to 12:30pm. So, if you've walked by and wondered what's happening, come over and grab free coffee, tea and snacks while sharing happy memories.
3-5pm: Pi Day Celebration: Join the departments that make up the Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching & Learning to learn about what the OVPTL does and how they can support students. Some ways they support you today is providing pizza pie, games and the annual Pi reciting contest to those who come to the ANTrepreneur Center. What is becoming a Pi Day Celebration tradition is ... ahem ... serving pie to VIce Provost Michael Dennin (shown from last year).
5-6:30pm: Cookies and Company: The Wellness Initiative in Social Ecology Peer Advisory Collective (WISE PAC) invites students to SBSG 3260, where they can decorate cookies and de-stress before the upcoming finals.
With a focus on positive psychology and well-being, Happiness Week has been your opportunity to learn, grow and connect with others in a fun and meaningful way. Today is your final opportunity to discover the joy of happiness at UCI.
