POSITION DESCRIPTION Dr. Nancy Rodriguez, in the Department of Criminology, Law & Society at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral scholar position. The successful applicant will collaborate with researchers and correctional experts on several grant-funded research projects related to institutional corrections. This position offers an opportunity to explore various institutional efforts aimed towards reducing the collateral consequences of incarceration, the impacts of programming within corrections, and their implications for policy and practice. These projects are geared towards promoting safety, improving family engagement opportunities that support the well-being of incarcerated persons, and reducing inequality created or exacerbated by institutional policies. We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with data collection, data management, and analytic experience working with cross-sectional and longitudinal data. Travel to state prison systems to support the research process (e.g., conduct interviews, meet with correctional leaders, and key stakeholders) will be a part of the postdoctoral scholar’s duties. Experience working with administrative data and conducting research with justice-involved individuals in correctional settings is preferred.
