(formally known as the Dean's Excellence Scholarship Fund)
You can make a difference!
The School of Social Ecology encourages students to contribute their talents and become active members of the community while they are pursuing their academic studies. "We are proud of our students, who explore ways in which they can apply their talents in community settings before graduating from UCI," says C.Ronald Huff, the School's dean.
Each year, three students are recognized with financial support from alumni who contributed to the award. Nominated students must demonstrate both scholarly achievement and community service participation.
Remember when you were a student walking around Ring Road or Aldrich Park? What about those nights staying up late studying for your final exam or writing your research paper? You can make a difference in a student's life. As an alum, you can impact students' lives by supporting their academic endeavors in Social Ecology. Help students pursue their Social Ecology degrees by donating to the Dean's Award for Community Engagement.
How To Give
There are many different ways to support the Dean's Award for Community Engagement - through outright gifts of cash, securities, or real estate, or through planned gifts such as bequests and life income gifts. Scholarship gifts in any amount are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Your gift can help in a variety of ways to:
- Attract outstanding new freshman
- Recognize excellence among current students
- Assist community college students transferring to UCI
- Attract academically gifted students from diverse ethnic backgrounds
Legacy Gift
Through legacy planning, gifts can take many forms. Two of the best known are estate bequests and life income gifts. They are a great way to support scholarships at UCI.
Bequest
You can establish either annual or endowed scholarships through a bequest in your will or living trust. We would be happy to provide suggest language to accomplish your objective.
Life Income Gift
There are many types of gifts that can provide your loved ones with income for life, while supporting your charitable interests. These vehicles include charitable remainder trusts, pooled income fund gifts, and charitable gift annuities. Frequently, life income gifts allow donors to make larger gifts than they thought possible. They may also allow donors to by-pass capital gains taxes, increase their income, and enjoy a charitable tax deduction.
