Retrofitting for Fitness

Students in the Masters in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program are getting real-world experience promoting public health. They are working in Garden Grove, a city that is rich in cultural diversity but it’s “park poor,” with less than 1 acre of park space per every 1,000 residents. MURP students are working to remedy this, recommending trails, “parklets,” crosswalks and public art to make neighborhoods more livable. The MURP progam celebrates its 20th Anniversary on Tuesday, April 3, at the University Club with Henry Cisneros as the keynote speaker.
