Michael Kent, MAS '15 and a lieutenant at the Irvine Police Department, is featured by The Orange County Register for being a part of the "40 Under 40" list by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The award recognizes 40 law enforcement professionals younger than 40 years old who exemplify leadership and commitment to their job.
From The Orange County Register:
“I was absolutely shocked because it’s not just a national thing, it’s an international thing,” Kent said. “At the same time (I was) thrilled, honored.”
The 39-year-old oversees the Portola area and Irvine’s SWAT team. He has received numerous awards during his 15-year career, including a meritorious service award, medal of courage and life saving award, which he got after resuscitating an unconscious man.
