City of Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang delivered the commencement speech at the School of Social Ecology's Commencement Ceremony on June 11, 2011. Kang's personal story about immigrating to the United States and the opportunities he pursued over the last thirty-four years was both inspiring and encouraging for graduates.
Family members and friends filled the Bren Events Center to honor the Social Ecology Class of 2011, which included 715 students. At the close of the ceremony, Dean Valerie Jenness and special guest Peter the Anteater led the students in a rousing "ZOT! ZOT! ZOT!" cheer that showed that the Class of 2011 is super-charged for life's next chapter. Watch out world!
