Important Information

  • You MUST R.S.V.P. for Transfer Advising. In order to be able to register for classes during the session you must R.S.V.P. at least 24 hours prior to your session. Each session can accomodate 25 students.
  • Please be on time for your advising session as space is limited and it may not be possible to reschedule. If you are late you will have to reschedule for another session. All transfer advising sessions are held in Social Ecology Building 1 in the computer lab, Room 101. Social Ecology Building 1 is labeled building 210 on the campus map (below).
  • Please submit final (official) copies of transcripts to the UCI Admissions Office as soon as possible. If you were pursuing completion of the IGETC (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum) it must be completed before classes begin in the fall. You are subject to completing UC Irvine General Education requirements if IGETC is not completed prior to matriculation at UCI.
  • Transfer Success is a non-mandatory orientation program designed to suit the unique needs of of the transfer student population. This does not include Academic Advising which is why we have scheduled an Academic Advising Session for transfer students an hour after Transfer Success is concluded.

Things you need for your transfer advising session

  • Activate your UCInetID: This must be done prior to attending your transfer advising session. You can activate it HERE. Activating your UCInetID allows you to register for classes and begin using your UCI email account. You may notice that we have placed a hold on your record. Please do not be concerned about this hold. The hold is being used as an administrative tool to help us allow you to register for classes during your advising session.
  • Money for Parking: $7 for an all-day permit. This can be purchased at the Information Kiosk at the entrance to the Social Sciences Parking Structure at the intersection of Campus Dr. and Stanford.
  • College transcripts: transfer students are required to bring a copy of any transcripts (unofficial is fine) in case we have not received copies from the UCI Admissions Office.
  • Pen and paper to take notes.
  • 2008 - 2009 UCI General Catalogue (strongly recommended): you may purchase a copy of the UCI General Catalogue at the UCI Bookstore.

Things to do in preparation for fall quarter

  • Get your picture taken for your UCI ID Card at UCI ITEMS in the Student Center.
  • Purchase your 2008 - 2009 UCI General Catalogue at the UCI Bookstore. Take time to review the Catalogue. It has official UCI policies and information about specific degree requirements. It also has a section called “Information for Admitted Students,” which we think you’ll find particularly helpful.
  • Purchase your UCI parking permit if you will be commuting to UCI and parking in any campus lots. You can buy it online HERE.
  • Take a Campus Tour or walk through campus to familiarize yourself with building/room locations.

Parking Information

If you are attending one of our orientation sessions you must purchase a parking permit at an Information Kiosk for $7.00. It is recommended that you park in the Social Sciences Parking Structure-it's D-7 on the campus map. Since parking may be difficult to find please give yourself enough time (approximately 20 minutes) to park and walk to the Social Ecology I Building which is labeled building 210 on the campus map.
