September 2017

Congratulations to Charis Kubrin, professor of criminology, law and society, for winning the annual W.E.B. DuBois Award from the Western Society of Criminology.

Kubrin was selected for her significant contributions to advancing awareness of racial and ethnic issues in criminology and criminal justice. This year, Kubrin published a groundbreaking meta-analysis finding that immigration does not, despite popular assumptions, increase crime.

The Western Society of Criminology bestows the award each year in honor of DuBois’ legacy on a person who has made significant contributions to advancing awareness of racial and ethnic issues in criminology and criminal justice.
