Email: knmatsud@uci.edu

Kristy N. Matsuda was born and raised in Lincoln, California. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1998, she attended the University of California, San Diego for her undergraduate education. At UCSD, she majored in Psychology with a minor in Humanities. As an undergraduate research assistant, her research experience included work on eyewitness reliability and prosecutorial decision making in sexual assault cases. She received her B.S. in 2002 before coming to the University of California, Irvine to begin her graduate work. For her M.A., Kristy looked at the differential operation of perceptual deterrence in both gang and non-gang juvenile offenders. Currently, she is working under the advisement of Dr. Cheryl Maxson (and with Dr. Valerie Jenness and Jennifer Sumner) on a project that investigates sexual assault and other forms of violence in California correctional facilities, in response to the Prison Rape Elimination Act. Her focus is on juvenile delinquency and violence in the California Youth Authority.
